If We Do Church Right, Should the World Hate Us?

  1. Well, I am a Christian and I am having a hard time going to church any more just because of the adultery and lack of love. We need to pray for a change of heart. (owner Hereditates www.hereditates.com)

  2. It's true the church has problems, but I believe that Bill Hybels nailed it when he said the church is the hope of the world. We still need to work in and through the local church; after all we are the church.
Jesus told Peter "upon this rock I will build my church", and Peter wasn't exactly the best role model for his peers at the time, yet he went on to grow the church by leaps and bounds.
    Hang in there!

  3. If we do Church right, the world will still hate us because they don't understand. I red on a sign outside a local Church once, 'Unless you believe, you will never understand'. The question you ask has such an open idea, I'm surprised you have not been swamped in responses. I've many thoughts on the idea, but I won't bore you now.

I just found your blog Paul, thank you, you write easily, and with a flowing style that appeals to many I imagine. I'll keep an eye on your posts,

    1. Thanks for your reply and encouraging words. Please note that I didn't write the article; I simply reposted it from churchleaders.com.

  4. Thanks! Yes, the world hated Jesus. Look what they did to him. Jesus told his disciples the world would hate them too. Soon our King and Savior, Christ will remove Satan's world. We are living in the final hour of the "last days!" A new world awaits those who honor God.

  5. It's true the church is flawed...because the church is full of self-declared sinful people. However the church is also the bride of Christ, the family of God, the body of Christ. All these images remind us both of how God see us and who we are called to be.

The fact is (as Diane) mentioned the more we look like Christ, the more certain it is that we will be rejected by some; and the more we look like Christ the more attractive we will be to those who recognize their brokenness. As Jesus said "A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also."
